The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Ordinance came into effect in 1998 and since then has protected about 1.5 million people and many ecologically sensitive areas from unacceptable impacts. By the end of 2007, EIAs for 115 projects worth about $350 billion combined had met EIAO requirements and been approved.

The approach, methodology and achievement for different EIAs vary, and they are recorded in the form of Environmental Outcome Profiles (EOPs) after the completion of the EIAs. The EPD selected 10 representative EOPs to highlight useful results, mitigation measures and lessons learned. They will act as a reference for project proponents, consultants and the public.

In order to have a broader dissemination and easy consumption of the EOPs, 10 EOPs are produced in an interactive web-based version. These 10 EOPs include:
