Road transport is one of the major sources of RSP emission. It contributed to 30% of total emission in 2007. The implementation of a series of control measures, namely, the tightening of vehicle emission standards progressively from Euro I in 1995 to Euro IV in 2006, the incentive scheme to replace diesel taxis with LPG in 2000, the incentive scheme to replace diesel minibuses with LPG/ electric in 2002, and the incentive scheme to install particulate filter at pre-Euro diesel vehicles from 2002 to 2005, have reduced RSP emissions from road transport in recent years. The various incentive schemes launched in 2007 to encourage owners to early phase-out their pre-Euro and Euro I commercial vehicles also helped reduce the emissions.
