ACHIEVEMENTS

the specified process control programme has achieved great reduction in pollution emissions by industry; the number of complaints against dark smoke emissions from industrial sources has been reduced; the sulphur dioxide levels in industrial areas have been reduced significantly and maintained at levels well below the Air Quality Objective target; nuisances arising from open burning activities have been reduced; dust emissions from construction activities have been reduced and local nuisances minimised; the number of smoky vehicle reports received was greatly reduced; and emissions from motor vehicles have been reduced.
