Preface
This
document was produced as a result of discussions at the EIA
Sub-committee of the Advisory Council on the Environment on
the environmental design of drainage channels. It summarizes
the environmentally friendly design measures recommended in
the five EIA studies on drainage channels. The main objective
is to build on the experiences and to provide a reference
document for those working on such projects in the future.
It is very much hoped that the designs in this document will
set examples for all future similar or related projects.
Should
readers have any comments on this document, you are welcome
to write to us.
Our sincere
thanks go to all the staff of the Agriculture and Fisheries
Department, the Drainage Services Department, the Territory
Development Department and the Environmental Assessment and
Noise Division
of Environmental Protection Department who have contributed
generously to the production of this document.
