INTRODUCTION
1.3 Structure of the Guidance Note
The structure
of this guidance note follows the procedure of the contamination
assessment process as summarised in the flow chart in figure
1.1. It covers the following steps/issues involved in the
process:-
(1) initial
site appraisal;
(2) level
of site investigation : full-scale or simplified;
(3) sampling
strategy;
(4) sampling
procedure;
(5) interpretation
of field and laboratory data;
(6) selecting
the optimal remediation method;
(7) preparing
the Remediation Action Plan (RAP);
(8) implementing
the approved RAP; and
(9) site
safety and precautions during site investigation and remediation
work.
