Guidelines for Free-range Poultry Keeping

Guidelines for Free-range Poultry Keeping

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS

The topography of the site must be taken into consideration in designing the bund to prevent the overflow of surface runoff containing livestock waste.

In free range poultry operation the waste deposited on land should be removed as frequently as possible to reduce the pollution load in the wastewater retained by the bund. Regular dry muck-out is a good practice.

It is important to maintain an ecological balance in a fish pond which receives poultry waste.
