Food Waste Reduction Program in Tsuen Wan had started in November 2012 for six month till May 2013. Environmental Protection Department collaborated with Tsuen Wan District Council, Greeners Action and New World Development will have a series of food waste reduction measures implemented to promote awareness and knowledge on food waste reduction and recycling to the public and the commercial and industrial sectors in the Tsuen Wan District. Eight eateries in Discovery Park participated in source separation and collection of food waste by setting up designated collection bins in kitchens to collect pre and pro consumed food waste. Collected food waste will then transferred to Kowloon Bay Pilot Composting Plant to process and projected that about 60 tonnes of food waste will be reduced from landfills.

 
The launching ceremony had been held on 30 November 2012 at Discovery Park. Assistant Director of Environmental Protection Department Mr. Elivs Au, JP, Chairman of Environment and Hygiene committee of Tsuen Wan District Council Mr. Timmy Chow, President of Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants and Related Trades Mr. Lok Kwok On, General Manager of New World Development Mr. Chan Siu Wah, Executive Director of Greeners Action Mr. Angus Ho and representatives of participating entries presided over the launching ceremony on stage together.

The press conference and promotion activities of “No Leftover” program had been held at 27 March in Discovery Park. All together there are 5 shopping malls in Tsuen Wan and Kwun Tong District participated in this program including APM, Discovery Park, Tsuen Wan Plaza, City Walk and Tsuen Kam Centre with more than 110 eateries get involved. “No Leftover” sticker and tent card will be displayed in these eateries. To enhance the promotion of “No Leftover” program, five brands with around 30 chain stores from Café De Coral corporate are fully support in this program, they are “Café de coral” “Super Super Congee and Noodles” “super sandwich” “spaghetti house” and “ME.N.U”. All the Maxim’s MX chain stores in both districts also joined in this program.

To support “Food Wise Hong Kong” kick-off ceremony, Food Waste Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Exhibition had been held during 18-31 May in Discovery Park, it aims to educate public to reduce food waste in their daily life and how to reuse the food waste properly. To echo the theme of recycle, all exhibition items are made by up-cycling material. To further deliver the information about the food waste, program ambassador will interact with the public in every Saturday and Sunday during the exhibition period.
