Among the gazetted beaches
monitored by the EPD, 33 out
of 41 gazetted beaches (80.5%)
met the WQO for bathing water
in 2002 (Figure 9.1). The number
of 'Good' water quality beaches
had increased by two to 23,
which was more than half of
the gazetted beaches in Hong
Kong (56.1%). Apart from the
beaches in the Tsuen Wan District,
most beaches in 2002 had similar
water quality as in 2001 (Figure
9.2).
