To monitor the quality of marine sediments, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) collects sediment samples from 45 open water stations and tests for over 60 physical and chemical parameters. The mean concentrations of Cadmium(Cd) in marine sediments in 2006-2010 are illustrated in the figure below. The levels of trace organics as well as other heavy metals are available in the annual report Marine Water Quality in Hong Kong.
