Simple Guide to Set Up an Environmental Management System
Appoint
A Green Manager Committee (Module 2)

1 : |
Invite
nomination for GMC members, and formally appoint them
by top management or the Green Manager. |
| STEP
2 : |
Inform
all staff of the establishment of the GMC. |
| STEP
3 : |
Launch
the first GMC meeting. On the agenda, discuss and determine
the Terms of Reference and frequency of meetings. |

4 : |
Discuss
possible green initiatives and formulate the time table
for implementation (described in Modules 3 to 7). |

5 : |
Estimate the financial, organizational & training
resources required to implement the green initiatives
and seek endorsement from top management. |
Some
hints on the Terms of Reference of the GMC
- Introduce
measures to raise the levels of awareness and involvement
in environmental issues;
- Determine
performance targets on green measures and formulate action
plans;
- Record,
review and publicize achievements; and
- Oversee
the Environmental Audits and maintain the Environmental
Management System.
