Road Opening Works at Hoi Tai Street, Quarry Bay

The project involved a simple road opening activity on a busy road section at Hoi Tai Street, Quarry Bay.

Environmental Concern Dust nuisance arising from the use of pneumatic breaker in road opening works on the pedestrians, nearby restaurants and residents is the major environmental concern.

Measures Adopted

Innovative Watering - Understanding the need to provide dust emission control measures to reduce the nuisance caused by the road opening activity, the workers came up with an innovative idea - to mount a wet mop-heads onto the pneumatic breakers. The application of wet mop-head has not only effectively abated dust emission, but demonstrated the willingness and determination of contractor to reduce nuisance to nearby residents, commercial uses, and the pedestrians.

Observations & Achievements

The construction workers had conscientiously applied effective mitigation measures on dust control which greatly help the pedestrians, shoppers and owners of the nearby shops to carry on with the daily business.
