Main
Haul Road of West Rail Project, Mei Foo Sun Chuen
The
project was part of the West Rail construction at Mei Foo Sun Chuen.
Environmental Concern
The
construction sites were situated near Mei Foo Sun Chuen and there
was a common main haul road of about 400 m long leading from the
Container Port Road. Although the road was paved with concrete,
dust arising from mud dropped off from the trucks when they drove
passing this road was the main environment concern effecting the
staff accommodated at the adjacent depot.

Measures
Adopted
Water
Spraying - To minimise the dust emission, a fixed
water spraying system was installed along the main haul road
(about 400 m long). |

Spraying System to suppress the dust emission |
Observations
& Achievements
The
main haul road was a long road with high volume of traffic flow
and it was very close to the depot of Tsing Ma Management Ltd. Any
dust emission arising from the passing vehicles would easily affect
the staff of the depot. After installing the water spraying system,
the dust at the main haul road was effectively suppressed.
