Po
Wing Road Government Quarters, Fanling, New Territories
The
works involved the construction of two residential towers
at the Po Wing Road Government Quarters at Fanling, New Territories.
Environmental
Concern
The
major concern was muddy water arising from bore piling and
wheel-washing activities, which may block the downstream drainage
if discharge untreated.

Measures
Adopted
Treatment
- Muddy water from bore piling and wheel washing was pumped
to a sophisticated wastewater treatment system before discharging
into the storm water drain. The treatment process included
preliminary sedimentation, polymer coagulation, sedimentation
and neutralisation. Sludge generated by the process was disposed
of at the landfill.

Observations
& Achievements
The
wastewater treatment plant was in good working condition and the
effluent showed no excessive suspended solids. This shows usefulness
of sophisticated package treatment plant for a small construction
site in congested built up area where land space for conventionally
designed treatment plant is inadequate.
