83 convicted pollution cases in March

A total of 83 convictions were recorded in March for breaching anti-pollution legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
Among them, 24 were convictions made under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, 23 under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, 19 under the Noise Control Ordinance and 17 under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.

The heaviest fine in March was $120,000.

A company was fined $120,000 for failing to comply with the requirements of a noise abatement notice.
