No change in auto LPG ceiling prices in July

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department announced today (June 30) that the auto liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) ceiling prices for dedicated LPG filling stations from July 1 to July 31, 2006 would remain unchanged.

A department spokesman explained that as the LPG international price in June was the same as that in May, the LPG ceiling prices for dedicated LPG filling stations in July, which reflected the movement of LPG international prices in June, would remain unchanged. The auto LPG ceiling prices for dedicated LPG filling stations would still range from $2.75 to $3.12 per litre.

The spokesman pointed out that the auto LPG ceiling prices are adjusted according to a specified pricing formula in the terms and conditions of the contract of the dedicated LPG filling stations. The formula comprises two elements - the LPG international price and LPG operating price. The LPG international price is the LPG international price of the preceding month. The LPG operating price will be adjusted on the first day of February every year according to movement in the Composite Consumer Price Index in the previous year.
