Thirty-eight EPD convictions in February

Thirty-eight convictions were recorded last month (February) for breaches of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department.
 
Ten of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, nine under the Noise Control Ordinance, one under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance and eighteen under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.
 
The heaviest fine in February was $30,000, assessed against a company that failed to comply with the requirements of a noise abatement notice.
