Prosecution Statistics in December

Thirty-five convictions were recorded in December 2016 for breaches of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD).

One of the convictions was under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, three were under the Noise Control Ordinance, two were under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance; 27 were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance, and two were under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.

The heaviest fine in December was $60,000,assessed against a company that imported controlled waste without a permit.
