- To
manage the SEA for Hong Kong 2030: Planning, Vision and
Strategy in order to ensure environmental considerations
are fully integrated in the long-term strategic planning
of Hong Kong.

policies and proposals which might have major environmental
implications.
- To
provide environmental information to the future Sustainable

require all newly registered taxis to use LPG fuel from

for pre-Euro standard diesel vehicles over 4 tonnes and
to implement a large-scale retrofit programme.

start introducing the Euro III emission standards for newly
registered vehicles in 2001.
- To
complete the trial of LPG and electric light buses in early
2001.
- To
work out a proposal to phase out diesel light buses in favour
of clean alternatives.
- To
put forward a proposal to make the installation of a particulate
removal device a requirement for the licence renewal of
pre-Euro standard diesel vehicles up to 4 tonnes.
- To
introduce a regulation for controlling perchloroethylene
emissions from dry cleaning facilities.
- To
open the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Information Centre in
early 2001 and launch the voluntary certification programme

complete a review on the control on daytime construction
noise.

review 200 planning schemes and strategic proposals to minimise
noise problems for around 57,000 people in 2001.

expand the Noise Control Designated Areas in the territory
which are subject to tighter construction noise control

tighten the noise standards for motor vehicles in 2001.
- To
commence a retrofitting programme to address noise impacts
of existing roads by implementing engineering solutions
with barriers and enclosures, and resurfacing with low noise
materials from 2002.

conduct 90 training workshops to train 1,800 stakeholders
to be green leaders in 2001-02.

conduct four environmental education training workshops

set reduction targets for paper and electricity consumption
