The air we breathe impacts our health. In mid-2007, the Government engaged a consultant in a study to review Hong Kong's Air Quality Objectives (AQOs) , with a view to determining new limits on air pollutants in the atmosphere that will better protect human health. In order for the new AQOs to bring actual improvement to the air quality, the promulgation of the new limits should come with a programme of emission control measures to help the community achieve the new Objectives. We have completed the study in July 2009, the findings of which are provided in the final report in detail.
Public Consultation
To invite views from the public on the proposed new AQOs and emission control measures, we launched a public consultation from 23 July to 30 November 2009. The details of the proposal are summarized in the Consultation Document and Leaflet. A Consultation Forum was held on 10 Oct 2009 to solicit views from the general public.
Key findings of the public consultation are presented in a summary report for public information. The views collected are of paramount importance in setting new benchmark for improving our air quality.
