Livestock Waste Control Scheme

Indiscriminate discharge of livestock waste has caused severe pollution in the watercourses in the New Territories. To combat the pollution problem, we introduced the Livestock Waste Control Scheme in 1987 and amended it in 1994. Legislative controls are now provided by the Waste Disposal Ordinance and the Public Health (Animals and Birds) Ordinance.
