Animal Carcasses

Animal Carcasses

"Animal carcasses" include animal dead bodies (intact, or parts); offal; condemned meat .

At present animal carcasses are mainly disposed of at designated landfills managed by EPD through an admission ticket system and a very small amount is cremated. The current daily arising of animal carcasses is about 18 tonnes.

Animal carcasses are typically generated from the following major sources :

  • AFCD's animal management centres (kennels)
  • livestock farms
  • private and public veterinary clinics
  • slaughterhouses
  • street collections
  • Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
  • Hong Kong Jockey Club
  • Ocean Park
