Leachate Management System Leachate Collection System Leachate is the liquid that has percolated through solid waste. The source of the liquid is primarily the water already present in the waste and any water induced from an external source such as rain water and ground water. To prevent the movement of leachate beyond the landfill site, an effective impermeable liner collection system becomes critical. Leachate collection pipes are entrenched near the bottom of the liner layers and are connected to a main pipe that leads to a leachate holding tank.
