Project Title: The Construction of a New Rain Cover over Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb

at Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum

 

Date of Director’s Permission: 13 January 2004

 

Condition Imposed under section 5(12) of the Ordinance

For Permission to Apply Directly for Environmental Permit

 

1.          All environmental mitigation measures described in the Project Profile submitted with the Application No. DIR-095/2003 on 2 December 2003 shall be fully implemented, including at least the followings:

 

a)          Light equipment and hand dug equipment shall be used for the construction of the new rain cover foundation works;

b)          The proposed structural support and the footings are to be kept away from the existing monument in order to minimize the adverse effect on it;

c)          Prefabrication off site shall be done to minimize site work;

d)          Temporary Protection Cover to the Tomb shall be provided during construction;

e)          Monitoring programmes including ground settlement, tilting, vibration, structural safety shall be provided; and

f)            All works are confined to daytime operation (7:00 am to 7:00 pm for normal weekdays).

 

2.          The applicant shall protect and preserve all existing trees during the construction stage.  The applicant shall also deposit three sets of method statement on the proposed tree preservation with the Director prior to commencement of construction of the project.

 

Note:

Under Section 17 of the EIA Ordinance, the applicant may appeal to the Appeal Board against any of the above conditions within 30 days of the receipt of this notice of the Director’s decision.
