Application for Permission to Apply Directly for Environmental Permit

Project Title: South-East Asia Japan Cable System (SJC) Hong Kong Segment

 

 

Conditions Imposed under Section 5(12) of the Ordinance

for Permission to Apply Directly for Environmental Permit

 

 

1.      All measures described in the Project Profile (PP-444/2011) submitted with the application shall be fully implemented.

 

2.      Prior to application for environmental permit of the Project, the Applicant shall submit to the Director for approval the following –

 

(i)           A detailed monitoring and audit (EM&A) programme covering water quality impact, marine mammals inspection and construction and demolition waste management, including employing an independent checker to audit the implementation of all mitigation measures in 1. above and submit weekly EM&A report to the Director during and upon completion of the construction work;

 

(ii)   A landscape plan showing details of landscape protection and reinstatement works within the Coastal Protection Area (CPA) for implementation during construction stage of the Project; and

 

(iii) A review report of geophysical survey results supplemented with relevant plans or charts to verify the findings of marine archaeology within the proposed cable corridor as indicated in the Project Profile (PP-444/2011). The review and interpretation of the geophysical survey results shall be carried out by a qualified marine archaeologist.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Note

 

Under section 17 of the EIA Ordinance, the Applicant may appeal to the Appeal Board against the above condition within 30 days of the receipt of this notice of the Director’s decision.
