Environmental Permit for

Renovation Project for Tin Hau Temple in Causeway Bay (EP-180/2003)

LANDSCAPING STATEMENT

 

1.          Protective Measures

 

The protective measures proposed to be taken to safeguard existing tress and shrubs on the site are as follows:

 

(a)            As all tress and shrubs within the site are grown in planters, their roots are always protected from accidental damage.

(b)           No felling, looping, chopping or pruning of any trees or shrubs is permitted to be carried out by the contractor.

(c)            No solid or liquid waste is permitted to be put into any of the planters, and this will be checked by supervisory staff on a daily basis.

(d)           The trees and shrubs will be regularly hosed down by fresh water during construction phase in order to remove any building dust that may have accumulated on the leaves as well as regular watering purposes.

(e)            The smaller shrubs will be protected by clear polythene sheeting during the course of the work.  In order to avoid light deprivation, the sheets will be removed at weekends when construction work ceases.

 

 

2.          Reinstatement of Landscape

 

On completion of the construction work on-site, the following measures will be taken:

 

(a)            All tress and shrubs will be carefully inspected both by LCSD representatives, as well as the Manager of the Temple to check for any plant sickness of physical damage.  Any minor accidental damages shall be reported to LCSD District Leisure Manager for her advice and the appropriate remedial work undertaken by this Office.

(b)           All trees or shrubs will be treated with an approved plant nutrient food in order to improve health and growth they may have suffered during the construction works.
