11.              MARINE ARCHAEOLOGICAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT

11.1          Introduction

This section presents the findings of a Marine Archaeological Investigation (MAI) carried out for the area which will be affected by the proposed submarine 132kV supply circuit from the Chi Ma Wan Peninsula, Lantau towards Cheung Chau.  The aim of the MAI was to locate and assess underwater archaeological materials within the study area in order to satisfy the request of Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO).

11.2     Summary of the Findings

In accordance with the AMO Guidelines, the MAI was studied through a baseline review, a geophysical survey and a diver inspection.

It concludes that no archaeological material was identified within the route of the proposed submarine cables.  Therefore, no further archaeological investigation or mitigation measures are required.

A copy of the report for the MAI conducted by SDA Marine Ltd. for this project is attached for details in Appendix J.
