Construction Phase

6.1                 Construction and maintenance of site runoff control measures as outlined in ProPECC 1/94 Construction Site Drainage and specified in Chapter 4 Water Quality are recommended to reduce runoff entering the marine environment during construction phase.

6.2                 To reduce impacts of sediment re-suspension upon nearby habitats and sensitive receivers during dredging, all dredging should be carried out using a closed-grab dredger, and silt curtains with a minimum solid reduction efficiency of 75% or higher should be deployed around the dredger during all dredging activity. Monitoring of water quality at designated locations during construction phase would be sufficed and no other marine ecological monitoring and audit requirements would be necessary.

Operational Phase

6.3                 Post commissioning water quality monitoring would be carried out at designated monitoring locations. No marine ecological monitoring and audit programme would be required.
