7                         ecological impact

7.1.1             In accordance with the EIA findings of this project, the proposed road widening works of Tuen Mun Road at Tsing Tin Interchange would not result in adverse ecological impact during both construction and operation phases. All directly impacted habitats under this project would be restricted to those highly developed areas of low ecological value. Other potential indirect ecological impacts including disturbance impact to the nearby egretry and also other adjacent wildlife as well as potential site run-off to Tuen Mun River Channel are considered temporary and minimal in nature.  With the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures (e.g. water quality and noise control measures, compensatory planting, etc.), it was concluded that the impact on the existing ecological resources and other species of conservation interest such as Little Egret is considered as low. Details of the recommended ecological impact mitigation measures proposed in the EIA are presented in Appendix A.6.

7.1.2             As recommended in Section 9.9 of the EIA study, regular environmental site audits would be carried out to ensure that the recommended mitigation measures are implemented properly (see Section 9 of this manual). No specific ecological monitoring programme would be required under this project.
