Government's Support

Assistance from Government Departments

You may contact the following government departments to get support for arranging cleanup operation:

Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD)

As regards marine parks, AFCD will:

  • give advice on cleanup proposals;
  • provide garbage bags;
  • arrange for collection and disposal of refuse.

Environmental Protection Department (EPD)

EPD will:

  • coordinate between community groups planning cleanup operations and relevant departments;
  • publicise cleanup operation or publicity event on this website.

Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD)

As regards ungazetted beaches and coastal areas, FEHD will:

  • provide gloves and garbage bags;
  • arrange for collection and disposal of refuse.

Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD)

As regards gazetted beaches, LCSD will:

  • provide gloves and garbage bags;
  • arrange for refuse collection services. 

Marine Department (MD)

As regards coastal waters, MD will:

  • arrange its contractor to ship out and dispose of marine refuse;
  • arrange the foreshore cleansing force to work together with community groups to clean up marine refuse accumulated at foreshore areas which are inaccessible by land.

Environment and Conservation Fund

The government also provides funding support through the Environment and Conservation Fund to community publicity activities and education projects related to clean shorelines, for raising the environmental awareness of members of the public.
