Workman II
Salary : Model Scale I Pay Scale Point 0 ($15,175 per month) to Model Scale I Pay Scale Point 8 ($17,880 per month).
Entry Requirements: Candidates should -
| (a) | be able to communicate in Cantonese/ Chinese and simple English; |
| (b) | be able to read simple Chinese and simple English; |
| (c) | be able to write simple Chinese or simple English; and |
| (d) | have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) (See Note (1)). |
Note:
| (1) | All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and National Security Law. A pass result in the BLNST is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the BLNST will be considered for appointment. For candidates who have not taken the relevant BLNST or have not attained a pass result in the relevant BLNST at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant BLNST during the recruitment process. |

| (2) | Candidates will be required to pass a relevant trade test. |
Duties: A Workman II is mainly deployed on –
| (a) | providing support to general office including carrying out dispatch services, manual work, performing counter duties, other logistic support services, etc.; |
| (b) | providing support to routine field work including preparing equipment, conducting river water and sediment sampling, delivering samples to laboratories, handling heavy monitoring equipment, lifting manholes covers, collecting water monitoring samples, etc.; and |
| (c) | providing support to laboratory works including cleaning and preparing equipment, handling dangerous chemicals, housekeeping of laboratories, etc. |
(Note: A Workman II may be required to (i) work shifts, irregular hours, overnight and in adverse weather condition; (ii) work in remote areas and perform outdoor duties; (iii) wear uniform; and (iv) perform emergency/ typhoon/ other natural disasters duties.)
Terms of Appointment : A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/ she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). The new version of application form for Government jobs G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023) has been in use with effect from 26 July 2023. Candidates who apply for Government jobs advertised on or after 26 July 2023 should use the new G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023). If candidates submit the old version form [G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)], they will be required to fill in the new G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023) afresh and submit it within seven days upon request. If candidates fail to submit the new G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023) within the stipulated deadline, their applications will not be processed further. |

| (2) | Application must be submitted on or before 19 December 2025 by one of the following means: |

| (a) | to post the completed application form, together with copies of all relevant supporting documents for (i) academic qualifications; (ii) employment records; and (iii) BLNST pass result, if applicable, to the below contact address. | (b) | to make online application through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (http://www.csb.gov.hk) and submit copies of all relevant supporting documents (listed in item (2)(a) above), if applicable, by post to the below contact address or by email to appointments@epd.gov.hk on or before 30 December 2025. Please specify “Application for the post of Workman II” on the envelope and quote the “online application number” on every page of the copies of the supporting documents. If applicants fail to provide copies of all relevant supporting documents, if applicable, on or before 30 December 2025, their applications will be regarded as incomplete and will not be considered. |

| (3) | The postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of submission of the application form and/ or copies the supporting documents. To avoid delay or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Applicants will have to bear any consequences arising from paying insufficient postage. |

| (4) | Applications which are not made in the prescribed form, or incomplete, or late, or without copies of the supporting documents, if applicable, or submitted by fax or email, will not be considered. |

| (5) | Applicants are encouraged to provide their email addresses in the application forms. Applicants who are invited for the trade test and/ or selection interview will normally receive an invitation by email or by post in about 14 weeks from the closing date for application. As it takes time to process all applications, an invitation to the trade test and/ or selection interview does not imply that an applicant has met the entry requirements of the post. Those who are not invited for the trade test and/ or selection interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful. | |

General Notes :
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/ Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessment on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
