ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION DEPARTMENT
Assistant Project Engineer (Waste-to-Energy) [Salary: HK$42,640 per month]
Entry Requirements: Candidates should –
| (a) | have a bachelor’s degree from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent, in subject relevant to engineering, or equivalent; | |
| (b) | have at least six years of post-graduate work experience in local engineering projects, among which at least three years experience related to waste treatment facilities; | |
| (c) | preferably have work experience in preparing New Engineering Contract 4 (NEC4) Design Build and Operate (DBO) contract and/ or in relation to waste incineration projects; and | |
| (d) | have good command of spoken and written Chinese and English. |
Duties:
| (a) | To assist in providing professional advice on the NEC4 DBO contract for waste incineration plants and local engineering requirements; | |
| (b) | To support the preparation of contract documents and site works for Integrated Waste Management Facilities Phase 2 (I·PARK2); | |
| (c) | To assist in overseeing the plant commissioning test, monitoring the overall site operation, following up rectification works, and supervising the resident site staff for Integrated Waste Management Facilities Phase 1 (I·PARK1) in accordance with the contract specifications, relevant policies, ordinances, regulations and codes of practice; | |
| (d) | To support the project management of the works contract for the Deployment of Artificial Reefs at the South Lantau Marine Park; | |
| (e) | To liaise with other government departments, the power company, utility companies and the contractor to resolve interfacing issues related to works contracts; and | |
| (f) | To attend meetings, provide support to the relevant teams and perform any other duties as assigned by the management. |
Other Job-related Requirements: The hours and venues of work may be varied having regard to the operational needs of the department. Successful candidate may be required to work (a) irregular hours and overtime, including evenings, weekends, Sundays and public holidays; and (b) outdoors occasionally.
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms with the contract period up to 28 February 2027.
Fringe Benefits: 14 days paid annual leave will be granted to the successful candidate. The entitlement of annual leave will be calculated on pro-rata basis for employment less than 12 months. The eligibility for rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), maternity/ paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, is in line with those provided for under the Employment Ordinance. A gratuity may be granted at the end of the contract period if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary received during the contract period.
