ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION DEPARTMENT
Project Assistant [Salary: HK$17,200 per month]
Entry Requirements: Candidates should –
| (a) | (i) have “Level 2” or equivalent [Note (1)] or above in five subjects including Mathematics [Note (2)] and a Science subject [Note (3)] in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent; or (ii) have “Level 2” [Note (4)]/ “Grade E” or above in five subjects including Mathematics [Note (2)] and a Science subject [Note (3)] in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; |
|
| (b) | have met the language proficiency requirements of “Level 2” [Note (4)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; | |
| (c) | have at least five years of full-time working experience in clerical duties; | |
| (d) | have good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; | |
| (e) | have good interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation and the ability to work independently; | |
| (f) | have knowledge in the use of computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel; and | |
| (g) | preferably have Chinese word processing speed of 20 words per minute and English word processing speed of 30 words per minute. |
Note:
| (1) | For appointment purpose, “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects) in the HKDSEE is accepted as equivalent to “Level 2” in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. Additionally, “Grade E” in Other Language subjects in the 2024 HKDSEE or before is accepted as equivalent to “Level 2” in the New Senior Secondary subjects in HKDSEE. A2 or above in French/ German/ Spanish; or N3 or above in Japanese; or TOPIK II Grade 3 or above in Korean in the Other Languages subjects in the 2025 HKDSEE and onwards are accepted as equivalent to “Level 2”/ “Level 3” in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. | |
| (2) | The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language. | |
| (3) | Science subject includes Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Combined Science or Integrated Science. | |
| (4) | For appointment purpose, “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. |
Duties:
| (a) | To conduct a full review on selected applications for the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Certificate Scheme for Offices and Public Places (the “Scheme”); | |
| (b) | To follow up and liaise with applicants on supplementary information or clarification; | |
| (c) | To provide customer service and respond to public enquiries/ complaints related to the Scheme; | |
| (d) | To perform statistical duties, including data collection, compilation and preparation of reports; and | |
| (e) | To provide general administrative support and undertake other departmental duties as assigned. |
Other Job-related Requirements: The hours and venues of work may be varied having regard to the operational needs of the department. Successful candidate may be required to work irregular hours and overtime, including evenings, weekends, Sundays and public holidays.
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms with the contract period lasting until 28 February 2027.
Fringe Benefits: 14 days paid annual leave will be granted to the successful candidate. The entitlement of annual leave will be calculated on pro-rata basis for employment less than 12 months. The eligibility for rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), maternity/ paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, is in line with those provided for under the Employment Ordinance. A gratuity may be granted at the end of the contract period if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary received during the contract period.
