Part-time Senior Project Assistant (Sewage Testing) (Salary: HK$270 per hour)

Entry Requirements: Candidates should have/ be –  

(a)   a Diploma or Higher Certificate from a Hong Kong university, Hong Kong Polytechnic, Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, a Hong Kong technical college or Hong Kong technical institute, or equivalent, in subject relevant to Engineering or Computing;
(b)   at least ten years of full-time working experience in environmental protection, including at least three years of working experience in sewerage surveillance/ sewerage inspection/ sewage monitoring;
(c)   good command of written Chinese and English and be able to speak fluent Cantonese; and
(d)   proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ArcGIS and Power BI.


Duties:

(a)  To search and retrieve information from various sources for the preparation of proposal on the survey of the sewage systems in both public and private housing buildings, including the following tasks – 
  (i)   analyse the sewerage network and identify the suitable foul water manholes (FMHs) to be surveyed;
  (ii)   prepare the Survey Schedule, Manhole Location Plans, and an Overall Survey Plan based on the findings derived from (i) above;
  (iii)   upload the FMH survey results to the ArcGIS on Sewage Surveillance upon receipt of survey reports and maintain a library of the survey reports received; and
  (iv)   upload laboratory test results received on Stationary Site sewage surveillance samples to the “SMART” system based on the Power BI platform.
(b)  To perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisors.


Other Job-related Requirements: The hours and venues of work may be varied having regard to the operational needs of the Department.  The number of working hours will not normally exceed 67.5 hours in any four-week period and there is no guarantee on the minimum number of hours of work in any given period.  Successful candidate(s) may be required to work (i) irregular hours and overtime, including evenings, weekends, Sundays and public holidays; and (ii) outdoors. 

Terms of Appointment: Successful candidate(s) will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms with contract period up to 30 November 2026.

Fringe Benefits: Successful candidate(s) is/are not entitled to any fringe benefit normally applicable to a full-time staff under the Employment Ordinance (including but not limited to paid annual leave, rest days, statutory holidays (or substitute holidays), maternity/ paternity leave and sickness allowance, etc.), unless the employment undertaken by the employee for the Government constitutes a “continuous contract”.  No gratuity will be granted at the end of the contract period.
