Control on Import and Export of Waste

Enforcement Figures

A total of 99 shipments of hazardous waste were intercepted in 2019 as imported into Hong Kong without prior notification to the EPD. These waste shipments included:

i)	30 shipments from Asia;
ii)	20 shipments from North America;
iii)	6 shipments from Central America;
iv)	2 shipments from South America;
v)	27 shipments from Europe; and
vi)	14 shipments from Africa.

All waste concerned had been returned to the corresponding states of export.
