HATS Stage 2A | HATS Stage 2B | Enhancing the quality of the coastal waters of Victoria Harbour

The Government has completed a review study of Harbour Area Treatment Scheme (HATS) Stage 2B (the Review) on the provision of an additional underground biological treatment facility adjacent to the existing Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works. The Review revealed that HATS Stage 2A has already provided adequate capacity to handle the projected sewage flow and the water quality in most parts of Victoria Harbour will comply with the Water Quality Objectives (WQOs) upon its commissioning. The Review concluded that in terms of WQOs compliance, there is no urgent need to implement HATS Stage 2B. We will continue to monitor the water quality improvements as a result of HATS Stage 2A, and the need and timing of HATS Stage 2B will be kept under review.
