"Green Seminar for the Vehicle Repair Trade" open for enrolment from 13 Feb 2019

"Green Seminar for the Vehicle Repair Trade" under the Vehicle Repair Trade Partnership Programme will be held on 8 March 2019. The Seminar, organized by the Environmental Protection Department and co-organized by the Environmental Vehicle Repairers Association, the Hong Kong Vehicle Repair Merchants Association and the Hong Kong Productivity Council, aims to strengthen communication with the trade and enhance environmental awareness of trade practitioners.

Discharge Licence under Water Pollution Control Ordinance

Applicants of licences for effluent discharge can now submit a signed copy of the application to the corresponding Regional Office via email first before providing the original hard copy by post/in person to the Office. Please refer to Important Notes in Form A for details.

Workshop on Application of Water Based and Low VOC Vehicle Refinishing Paints are Open for Application from 3 February 2017

Sponsored by the Environmental Protection Department, the "Workshop on Application of Water Based and Low VOC Vehicle Refinishing Paints" is organized by the Pro-Act Training and Development Centre (Automobile).  The Workshop aims to enhance the trade practitioners’ environmental awareness and understanding on practical techniques for applying water-based and low VOC vehicle refinishing paints.  There are six identical workshops with the first workshop commencing on 27 February 2017.

2013-15 Vehicle Repair Workshop Trade Environmental Ambassador Appointment Ceremony

The “2013-15 Vehicle Repair Workshop Trade Environmental Ambassador Appointment Ceremony”was held successfully at the Hong Kong Productivity Council on 27th September 2013. The event was organized by the Environmental Protection Department and co-organized by the Hong Kong Vehicle Repair Merchants Association, the Environmental Vehicle Repairers Association and the Hong Kong Productivity Council.

Practice Guidelines for Vehicle Maintenance Workshops

EMSD's Vehicle Maintenance Workshops Charter and the Practice Guidelines for Vehicle Maintenance Workshops (April 2012 Edition)

In order to raise the service quality of the vehicle maintenance trade in Hong Kong, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) has compiled the Practice Guidelines for Vehicle Maintenance Workshops, so as to encourage the trade to be self-regulatory. The guidelines introduce the service requirements of vehicle maintenance workshops in technical, environmental, safety, training, service and documentation aspects.

Proposal to Strengthen the Control of Excessive Exhaust Emissions from In-use Petrol and Liquefied Petroleum Gas Vehicles

To further improve roadside air quality, the Government proposes to strengthen the control of excessive emissions from in-use petrol and liquefied petroleum gas vehicles. The Environmental Protection Department are consulting the relevant trades about the proposal and welcome views from vehicle owners and other people.

The "Vehicle Repair Workshop Emission Reduction Technology Seminar" is organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council with support from the Hong Kong Vehicle Repair Merchants Association and the Environmental Vehicle Repairers Association. It is also sponsored by Environmental Protection Department. The aims of the seminar are to promote practical emission reduction technologies to the Vehicle Repair Workshop trade and to help the trade to adopt cleaner production to enhance competitiveness. The seminar was held successfully at 1/F., HKPC Building, 78 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong at 7pm on 21th November 2013.

Hong Kong Green Awards 2013

Hong Kong Green Awards 2013 Are Now Open For Application (Submission Deadline: 14 September 2013)

The first Hong Kong Green Awards (HKGA) was formulated and staged by the Green Council (GC) in 2010,  its direct focus is to seek out, identify and recognize select participating companies that have pursued and achieved outstanding performance and results in the areas of green purchasing, green management and green governance. Nevertheless, the broader objective of this year's event -- "Hong Kong Green Awards 2013" (HKGA 2013) is to encourage all large corporations and SMEs in Hong Kong to include environmental considerations, responsibility, management, performance, continuous improvement and leadership in their operations.

Seminar on "The Control on VOC Content of Vehicle Refinsihing Paints"

The seminar was co-organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Environmental Protection Department to help the vehicle-repairing related trade to understand the requirements under the captioned control and know more about the technology and technique for using the vehicle refinishing paints which fulfill the new requirements. The seminar was conducted successfully on 11 Mar 2011 at the Exhibition Hall, 4/F, HKPC Building of HKPC.

To protect and recover our ozone layer, the Environmental Protection Department has banned the import of products using HCFCs (including refrigeration/air-conditioning equipment, aerosol products and etc.) in phases from 1st January 2010. "Vehicle Repair Workshop Trade Partnership Programme - 2010 Environmental Seminar"

The 2010 Environmental Seminar was held successfully at the Exhibition Hall, 4/F., HKPC Building, 78 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong on 20th August 2010. The Seminar was organized by the Environmental Protection Department and co-organized by the Hong Kong Vehicle Repair Merchants Association, the Environmental Vehicle Repairers Association and the Hong Kong Productivity Council.

This year is the 10th Anniversary of the "Vehicle Repair Workshop Trade Partnership Programme". A toasting ceremony was hence arranged before the Seminar to celebrate the Partnership Programme to sustain its brightness and wish a better prospect for the business and environmental performance of the local trade operators.

In June 2008, the Air Pollution Control (Fuel Restriction) Regulation was amended to tighten the control requirements of liquid fuels. If you use liquid fuels in any commercial or industrial process, you are advised to pay special attention to the Section on Use of Liquid Fuels.
