Visit from the Delegation of Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau to the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department

A delegation of the Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau, comprising key Bureau officers, was led by the Director-General of the Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau Mr. Luo Si-yuan, to visit the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department on 22 June 2011 for information and view exchange on topics related to environmental management for the restaurant trade.

The Secretary for the Environment, Mr. Edward Yau Tang-wah, and the Permanent Secretary for the Environment, Ms. Anissa Wong Sean–yee, met the delegates separately for view exchange. In addition, representatives from the EPD introduced environmental topics related to the restaurant trade, including the Partnership Programme for the Restaurant Trade, Environmental Laws and Enforcement in Hong Kong, Food Waste Management in Hong Kong and Hong Kong-Guangdong Cleaner Production Programme.

The EPD then escorted the delegates to meet with representatives from major restaurant trade associations (including Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants and Related Trades, the Association for Hong Kong Catering Services Management Ltd., the Association of Restaurant Managers and the Chinese Cuisine Management Association) and the Hong Kong Productivity Council to exchange views on environmental management. Afterwards, the delegates also visited two Chinese restaurants to better appreciate the efforts by the local restaurants in implementing environmental measures.
