Restaurants generate a substantial amount of solid waste, mainly from the kitchens and dining areas. If restaurant produces excessive surplus waste, it would waste natural resources with loss of money. Moreover, solid waste if improperly handled may lead to environmental hygiene problem.

Restaurant therefore should implement proper waste reduction measures (e.g. Reduce, Reuse, Replace & Recycle) and encourage customers to support environmental protection.
