Environmental Management System for Electricity Supply Services

To ensure a safe and reliableelectricity supply for the community, as well as a greener and more sustainable environment for future generations, The Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd. (HEC) will striveto:

HEC established its Transmission and Distribution Environmental Management System (T&D EMS) in 2001 in accordance with ISO14001 requirements for its power transmission and distribution activities. Since then, various environmental management planshave been implemented to:
- ensure compliance with statutory requirements;
- promote conservation of resources and reduce material wastage and
- upkeep a high level of environmental awareness among employees and contractors.
Throughout the years, the success of the T&D EMS has been verified bythe results of many regular internal and external audits undertaken every year.
In February 2005, the T&D EMS was successfully certified to ISO14001 by Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, an independent external certification body. The certification marks an important milestone of HEC’s achievements in environmental management, as well as a recognition of the Company’s efforts in striving for excellence in environmental protection.
