5. What is the HKSAR Government doing to fulfill the obligations under the Stockholm Convention?

As required by the Stockholm Convention, the PRC submitted China's first National Implementation Plan (NIP) including the first Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Implementation Plan (HKSARIP) to the Conference of the Parties of the Stockholm Convention before its third meeting in April 2007. The key components of the first HKSARIP include an overview of the current POPs situation in Hong Kong; control strategies, priorities and action plans in the next 5-10 years to reduce/eliminate POPs as required by the Stockholm Convention; promotion of public awareness; and enhancement of regional information exchange and collaboration. The second and the third NIPs, including the second and the third HKSARIPs, were submitted to the Convention Secretariat in December 2018 and April 2025 respectively.
