The Mount Davis Path case

Tackling Fly-tipping at Mount Davis Path

Mount Davis Path (MDP), located at the western part of the Hong Kong Island, is a remote access road joining the Victoria Road and the Mount Davis Country Park. Due to its convenient vehicular access, MDP was once a black-spot of fly-tipping activity.

In early 2006, Environmental Protection Department, District Lands Office, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, Hong Kong Police Force, Transport Department, Highways Department and District Office (Central and Western) set up a task force to tackle the fly-tipping problem jointly. The task force stepped up surveillance to deter further malpractice; expedited clearance of the disposed waste to avoid attracting more fly-tipping; erected chain-link fence and warning signs at popular disposal spots. The task force also liaised with Non-Government Organisations to help promote public awareness on deterring fly-tipping.

The above measures had proved to be successful in deterring fly-tipping activity at MDP.
