The Shing Mun Road case Shing Mun Road land filling case A valley at the roadside of Shing Mun Road was found land filling with construction waste to form a flat platform for private purpose. The concerned land involved government land as well as private lots. The land filling undesirably changed the land profile, and causing partial obstruction to a nearby stream. The government acted promptly to cease the land filling and take corrective actions. With joint efforts of various government departments, the land filling was stopped immediately, and the waste on the government land was cleared up within a short period. To deter further illegal land filling, the government also took prosecution actions against a transportation company, two dump truck drivers and the person who arranged for the land filling. The offenders were convicted and fined by the court after trials.
