River Indus

River Indus is the largest watercourse in the North District. It covers a catchment area of 43 km2 , with a total stretch of 49 km in length. Water quality in its upstream sections is good, but gradually deteriorates as it runs across unsewered catchment areas collecting runoff and discharge from villages and various industrial, commercial and institutional activities, including 6 livestock farms (4 pig farms and 2 chicken farms).
