National Event on the Environment Day 2026

2026年六五環境日國家主場活動

The United Nations designated June 5 as World Environment Day in 1972, aiming to raise public awareness of environmental protection and calling on government worldwide to address environmental problems.  Since 2018, authorities including the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) and the Central Office of Spiritual Civilization Construction have joined local governments regularly to organise the National Event on the Environment Day.

The National Event on the Environment Day 2026 will be jointly organised by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in Guangzhou on June 5, 2026. Under the theme "Comprehensive Green Transition and Jointly Build a Beautiful China", a nationwide "Beautiful China” Promotion Week will be launched. Through various promotional activities, the event aims to showcase the outstanding achievements of ecological and environmental protection in the new era, cultivate and promote ecological culture, and mobilize the entire society to become active communicators and exemplary practitioners of ecological civilization concepts.

Closely aligned with the national "15th Five-Year Plan", we will firmly establish and practice the philosophy that "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets." In support of the national "Dual Carbon" goals, we will lead all sectors of society to jointly promote carbon reduction, pollution control, green expansion, and economic growth, thereby strengthening the momentum for green development. We sincerely invite all sectors to take action, integrate environmental protection into daily habits, and gather immense strength to achieve the construction goals for a "Beautiful China" during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

The National Event on the Environment Day 2026 will be held at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center. Representatives from the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region will attend. During the event, officials from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment will conduct the flag handover ceremony and announce this year’s Special Invited Observers for Ecological Environment.
