Proposed amendments to sewerage works in Tai Po gazetted

A proposal to amend part of the sewerage works along Ting Kok Road in Tai Po was gazetted today (June 22).

The works, which was authorised in February 1998, will enhance the sewage collection in the area and protect the water quality of Tolo Harbour, a spokesman for the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) said.

The proposed amendments are made to take into account the views of local residents.

"It involves the relocation of a proposed sewage pumping station and associated revision of a section of sewer. The proposed pumping station will be moved from a site near Shuen Wan Chim Uk to Tung Tsz Nursery, about 100 metres north from its original location.

"Due to the relocation of the sewage pumping station, some road works will be affected. A separate notice for the proposed amendments to the road works was also gazetted today.

"The sewerage amendment works, which will be carried out by the Territory Development Department, are scheduled to start in October and expected to complete in 12 months."

Details of the proposed amendments, in both English and Chinese, will be put up at prominent positions near the works area.

Copies of the amendment plan and amendment scheme are also available for public inspection at the following locations:

Any person who considers that he will be affected by the amendment works and wishes to raise objection to the proposed amendments is required to send his objection in writing to the Director of Environmental Protection not later than August 21, 2001.
