EPD convictions in August

Forty-one convictions were recorded in August 2020 for breaches of legislation enforced by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD).

Three of the convictions were under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, four were under the Noise Control Ordinance, 22 were under the Public Cleansing and Prevention of Nuisances Regulation, four were under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance, six were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance and two were under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance.

A company was fined $40,000, which was the heaviest fine in August, for using powered mechanical equipment not in accordance with the conditions of a construction noise permit.
