Welcomes Investigation Report
In response
to media enquiries, an Environmental Protection Department(EPD)
spokesman said the department welcomed the Ombudsman's investigation
report on the beach pollution incidents last year and would
study the findings in detail.
"The two beach pollution incidents in July last year were
unprecedented and were of serious concern to EPD," he said.
"After the incidents, we took immediate steps to strengthen
the coordination with Drainage Services Department and other
departments concerned in handling
similar incidents."
He added that a number of measures recommended in the report
have already been mplemented by the department, and it would
follow up on the report findings to see what further improvements
should be made.
