Tong
Fuk Beach to be re-opened
The RSD
has been advised to re-open the Tong Fuk beach on Lantau after
sample tested today (Friday) showed that the water quality
is normal.
The beach
was closed at about 6 pm yesterday as a precautionary measure
after a partial failure at the sewage treatment plant in the
Ma Po Ping Prison.
An EPD
spokesman said that as Drainage Services Department had stopped
the discharge from the plant and were tankering the effluent
to other treatment facilities until the plant is repaired,
beach water quality was not expected to be further affected.
