Sewerage improvement for Tai Po and Sha Tin villages

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) is planning to introduce sewerage to 10 villages in Tai Po and one in Sha Tin as part of the government effort to improve the water quality of Tolo Harbour.

The proposed works under the Tolo Harbour Sewerage of Unsewered Areas Scheme was published in the Government Gazette today (Friday).

The villages where sewerage works will be carried out include Kau Shi Wai, Tin Sam, San Wai Tsai, Chuk Hang, Lai Chi Shan, Cheung Uk Tei, Fung Yuen Lo Tsuen, Mak Uk, Shek Kwu Lung and Yung Shui O in Tai Po as well as Hung Mui Kuk in Sha Tin.

The works, which will be carried out by the Drainage Services Department, are scheduled to start in April next year and expected to complete in 18 months.

Details of the proposal, in both English and Chinese, will be put up at prominent positions near the works area.

Any person who wishes to object to the above proposal is required to send his objection in writing to the Director of Environmental Protection on or before April 27, 1999.
