  • Continued efforts to strive to move away from the reliance on landfills for direct disposal of Municipal Solid Waste as well as mobilising the entire community to practice waste reduction and waste separation for recycling.
  • The GREEN@COMMUNITY recycling facilities are expanded to 50 Public Rental Housing Estates, providing recycling support to some 1.2 million residents.
  • Expanded food waste collection services to cover the whole territory since 2023, providing point-to-point collection service for public and private premises at 1,470 locations.
  • Introduced the Product Eco-responsibility (Amendment) Bill 2023, which prohibits the sale and provision of plastic tableware to customers at catering premises, encouraging the public to build a “plastic-free” culture progressively. 
  • Expedited marketisation of EV charging services, operators to take over charging services in government car parks starting from 2023, involving over 1,600 medium chargers in 74 government car parks across the territory.
  • Established the Hong Kong Environmental Database (HKED) to enhance the efficiency of the EIAO operations. HKED was granted the “Best Environmental Innovation Award” at the “Southeast Asia Forum” 2024 International Conference.
  • O·PARK2 received the Brunel Award from the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK) in 2023 and won the championship award in UNIDO's Global Call 2022, recognising EPD’s accomplishments in low-carbon building projects.
  • EPD’s proposal on “AI Environmental Air Nuisance Investigation Robot Dog” was shortlisted as Top 10 Winning Proposals in the OGICO’s “Innovative Application with AI” Competition in August 2023.
  • Sewage Surveillance Programme received Gold Award of 2024 International Water Association Project Innovation Awards under the category of "Performance Improvement and Operational Solutions", recognising EPD’s innovative spirits and outstanding achievements in combating the epidemic.
  • National Ecology Day Launching Ceremony was held in 2023 in support of the country's designation of August 15 as National Ecology Day, to promote the importance of pursuing ecological civilisation.
